Music, travel and Verona ... Eventually

Note: this post was done yesterday (Tues.) but we couldn't get wi fi, so didn't post it until this morning.
Attended a wonderful concert last night on the grounds of our hotel. It was a master class performance by some jazz students in the area. Three violins, two oboes, and a bassoon, all accompanied by their teacher on the keyboard. They were all amazing! They each performed alone and then all jammed together for a while. What a treat to hear them perform. AND it was followed by yummy food and wine. Even better. Here are some shots:

Today was our last day of our lovely stay at Erbusca ... Had a nice breakfast and then checked out the second pool, which we discovered last night after the concert.

VERY strange pool chair! (And strange man in it!)

Travel day today ... And oh, what a day it was. Left Erbusco mid-day and headed to Verona area, with a stop in Brescia for some sightseeing. We thought we knew where we were going, but we were wrong. Drove around Brescia for quite a while (in many areas where I'm sure we should NOT have been driving) and finally found a place to park. Then walked a really long way. Saw some great sights, had a nice lunch, then walked up a mountain to view the castle. Thought we were going to die! It was mid nineties here today (feels like St. Louis). Damn, we're getting old.

The OLD duomo ...

Next to the NEW duomo ...

And then lunch ...

And then the climb begins ...

Exhausted, we made our way back to the car and drove to our next stop - a agriturismo/winery outside of Verona. Once again, we got a little lost. Even Siri got lost! Eventually found the place ... Way out in the hills. Very peaceful, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees. Our apartment is great - very roomy and comfortable.

BUT we soon discovered that there was no wi fi in the apartment and there were tons of flies in the apartment. We quickly returned to the main office to tell them. They said they would "bring some machines down to fix it" ... Which amounted to plugging in some insect repellant thing. We've spent the last couple of hours killing flies - yuck. The only help regarding the wi fi was for them to say "it works here in the office and at the pool" ... So we are at the pool! (It is quite nice, though.)

Anyway, my blog posts may not be so regular for the next few days. We will be out visiting the nearby towns - Vicenza, Padua, Triveso and Verona. Although this pool and glass of wine isn't so bad ...
